Meet our Pastor
Meet our Pastor
Senior Pastor of Noonday Methodist Church. A Methodist minister with decades of ministry across New Mexico and Texas, now serving Noonday GMC.

Rev. Kevin Phillips
A shepherd with an open door.
“Whoever you are, whatever you’ve been through — you are welcome at Noonday. Come as you are; God meets us where we stand.”
Rev. Kevin Phillips was born in West Texas and has been formed in the Methodist tradition his whole life. His ministry has taken him from the wide open plains of New Mexico to the piney woods of East Texas — with the same calling along the way: to preach the gospel, to walk with people through the seasons of life, and to keep the door open.
Education and ministry
Rev. Phillips graduated from Sanderson High School in Sanderson, Texas, in 1974, and from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, in 1983. He went on to attend Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, graduating in 1987.
While at Asbury, he met his wife, Nancy. They have been happily married since January 5, 1985.
Rev. Phillips has served United Methodist churches in the New Mexico and Northwest Texas Annual Conferences over a long pastoral career.
Coming home to East Texas
After retiring, Kevin and Nancy moved to the Tyler area to be closer to family. Retirement turned out to be the wrong word for what came next: Rev. Phillips filled in for two GMC congregations before accepting an appointment at Noonday GMC.
He preaches every Sunday at 10:30 a.m., teaches Adult Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., and leads the mid-week study on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. Outside of the pulpit, he and Nancy are most likely to be found with family or in conversation with members of the congregation over coffee.
