Where we stand
Our church is a part of the Global Methodist Church (GMC) — a movement committed to a renewed focus on biblical truth, the lordship of Jesus Christ, and the mission of making disciples.
This transition marks a new chapter — not a departure from our faith, but a deeper alignment with it. We remain a community grounded in grace, truth, and the Methodist tradition. What “Global Methodist” means
The Global Methodist Church was launched in 2022 as a new traditional Methodist denomination, drawing together congregations and clergy from around the world who share a high view of scripture, a confessional understanding of the Christian faith, and an enduring commitment to the historic Wesleyan-Methodist tradition.
For us at Noonday, the GMC affiliation means:
- Scriptural authority. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the rule and standard for our faith and practice.
- Wesleyan distinctives kept. Grace before us (prevenient), grace through faith (justifying), and grace working in us (sanctifying). The means of grace — prayer, sacraments, scripture, and Christian fellowship.
- Connectional accountability. We are part of a wider body, not a stand-alone congregation. Pastors are accountable to a conference; congregations to one another.
- A renewed mission focus. Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Why we made the change
The decision to join the Global Methodist Church was made prayerfully, with the full participation of our congregation. Like many Methodist congregations, we walked through a season of discernment about how best to live out our calling. The transition to the GMC is the answer we arrived at — one that honors what has been faithful for generations and points us toward what God is calling us to next.
What hasn’t changed
The hymns, the prayers, the sacraments, the Methodist heritage — all of it remains. The pastor still preaches the Bible. The bell choir still rings. The pet food ministry still feeds dogs and cats. Sunday is still Sunday at 10:30. What’s new is the wider family we belong to.
